From George's Other Hometown Newspaper(s)
Ex-CIA analyst lambastes Bush
During his time working for the CIA [ed. 27 years], Ray McGovern helped analyze intelligence under nine CIA directors, spanning from the time of presidents John F. Kennedy to George H.W. Bush. Now, he and other Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) are hoping to spread the word about how that agency has been corrupted and manipulated by the current administration.

In his talk, "Are We Safer? An Ex-CIA Perspective," McGovern said not only is the country less safe, but Americans are being lied to, the media is withholding information to protect Bush, the president should be considered a war criminal based on U.S. laws, and the current administration may attempt to delay the upcoming elections based on threats of terrorism.
This is astonishing. Now I understand why Maine has turned blue around the edges again.

And the former Governor of Maine, an Independent (that is, neither Republican nor Democrat, and actually elected), Angus King, has said "he felt compelled to endorse Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry after having reviewed the current president's record." Read it all here.

Here, I must admit something. Half of my family is from Kennebunkport, having lived and farmed in the area for generations before the Walkers bought Walker Point in the 1930s. I used to say that the family homestead was just a rocket-launch away from the Bush compound, but that was pre-Patriot Act. Needless to say, I don't say that any more.

What's that? Oh, excuse me. I hear someone knocking at the door....
