This Has To Be a First
GOP-run Senate kills minimum wage increase
WASHINGTON - The Republican-controlled Senate smothered a proposed election-year increase in the minimum wage Wednesday, rejecting Democratic claims that it was past time to boost the $5.15 hourly pay floor that has been in effect for nearly a decade. This is the first time I've noticed (at last) the proper pointing out that the folks in government who are in control and who got us into this mess and who just voted themselves a PAY INCREASE and who want to keep you below the poverty level with your measley five bucks an hour without benefits are indeed REPUBLICANS.
The 52-46 vote was eight short of the 60 needed for approval under budget rules and came one day after House Republican leaders made clear they do not intend to allow a vote on the issue, fearing it might pass.
Just had to point it out -- one for us, 999,999,999,999,999 for them. They'll whine and complain and talk about "balance" till you want to barf, so someone will make appropriate changes to the headline and the attributions.
Or maybe the guy who wrote the story isn't making a whole bunch of dough? Hmmm...
Or no dough at all -- aka an intern.
