The Eagle Plummets
A new NEWSWEEK poll suggests President Bush could become Katrina’s next casualty.
Of course, he's not running for reelection, unless they change the laws again. However,
Reflecting the tarnished view of the administration, only 38 percent of registered voters say they would vote for a Republican for Congress if the Congressional elections were held today, while 50 say they would vote for a Democrat.Dean, please note and let's take action.
One interesting effect of the dispersal of all of New Orleans is what is going to happen come next year's elections. Will people have to vote absentee, since they have no actual address? Will all those provisional ballots flood the system and get disqualified anyway? Will the Evil Ones figure out a way to rob these poor people of a voice? Count on it, they will, since all those southern states the evacuees were sent to do whatever they can to disenfranchise those who don't have good documentation anyway. Especially if they're black.
And by dispersing people to different legislative districts, a solid "hate Bush" voting block will be diluted. Having just read Philip Roth's The Plot Against America this was one of the first things that came to mind.
Good afternoon, folks. Didn't get out to the art scene last night. Back acted up and was excruciating, still is. It has been suggested that either I've suddenly gained some weight or I need to get some better shoes.
Please, let it be the shoe thing.
With luck, will get to the galleries on Tuesday. Better, anyway, since it'll be less partying and more actual viewing.
