Something to be Thankful For

Good morning, friends. As Americans, we have a lot to be thankful for, just in general, but especially this year. (Iraq, not so much, I'm afraid, and looking worse and worse.)

Assuming we don't squabble too much (note to media: Democrats aren't like Bush soviets -- we allow different ideas in the party and heartily discuss them), we can blunt the worst of what the madmen in Washington want to do to the country.

Assuming the GOP extremists and their "liberal" media friends don't spend billions and billions of dollars to take us down, maybe some lives can be saved -- not just American lives, but Iraqi, Iranian, Syrian, Korean -- and who else? Mexican, or Venezuelan, perhaps?

With success and prosperity, maybe the country will finally believe that there's more to morality than gay bashing, hating the Dixie Chicks, and building fences around the country.

So let's start thinking like grownups about who we really want to run the country this time.

And not just run it into the ground.
