Man or Mouse?
Reports: Disney tries to stop release of Moore film - May. 5, 2004:
Moore's agent, Ari Emanuel, told the New York Times that Eisner asked him last spring to pull out of the deal with Miramax. Emanuel said Eisner expressed particular concern that it would endanger tax breaks Disney receives for its theme park, hotels and other ventures in Florida, where President Bush's brother, Jeb Bush, is governor. You've now alienated one of them, buster. Well, folks, we all know what movies we're not going to see this summer. And how about boycotting ABC TV (though no one watches it now, so it's no loss) while we're at it?
The Times reported that Disney executives denied that allegation. One executive told the paper it did not want to be seen taking sides in the election and risk alienating customers of different political views.
Good morning, folks. Am going to try to get out and paint early before all the early wildflowers have gone by and that guy sets up. Tom Skilling says
Mild inland—but a cool flow off the lake returns for a day. Unlimited sunshine, NE winds back to the ESE this afternoon. Peak readings from upper 50s coolest lakeshore locations, low/mid 70s south and far west suburbs. Beco-ming partly cloudy, strengthening SSW winds develop. Lows: Upper 50s inland, mid 60s south. And it looks like tomorrow will be the steamer, then dropping again. Time to hit the road.
UPDATE: Here's everything that Disney owns, in case you feel boycottish. And Democrats.com has a petition you can sign here.
Luckily, publicity like this is what Michael Moore lives for, so Cannes Film Festival, here he comes.
