Outrageously Beautiful
...outside today, one of the first perfect spring/early summer days so far, air douce and softly fragrant with lilacs and my neighbor's chicken satay cooking on the outdoor grill.

The sun is intense, but not quite as intense as a few weeks ago, since the leavery (is that a word? If not, it should be) is greater, shielding my puffy and pasty indoor flesh a bit more. Friend Peg says we're like the mole people, emerging from our burrows, blinking at the light, dodging the sun as we skulk from shadow to shadow.

Or from house to library, where I stupidly spent much of the afternoon.
